Knowing and choosing the right clay for the job and for each ceramic technique is fundamental for successful work. Here, participants will learn various modelling, moulding and construction techniques, such as the ball, the roller, the ballast and of course the potter's wheel to create our pieces, also learn about the advantages of each technique and take advantage of our newly acquired knowledge.
At the end of the Ceramics Initiation course, you will learn how to fire your pieces, draw conclusions from the results and the firing processes and, of course, take home some very special pieces.
This introductory course is designed and structured to lay the foundations for participants to continue exploring and seeking knowledge in this vast and interesting area of autonomy after the course. There is also a small specialised library available for those who want to be inspired or deepen their knowledge.

The construction of the Forno sem Fumo (smokeless kiln) for firing high-temperature ceramics in 2015 sparked her interest in ceramics as a means of expression and, since then, she has intensified her learning of techniques and firing to realise her sculptures. Co-founder of the Cerdeira Home For Creativity project, she currently combines her artistic work with the project's artistic direction.
