Pampilhosa da Serra is the epicentre of the Starlight Schist Villages project. The visibility, transparency and darkness, as well as the number of clear nights, make the Schist Villages a rare destination in the world for observing the sky.
Taking advantage of this rich natural resource, the Geoscope - Astronomical Observatory of Fajão was born, a multidisciplinary project that unites tourism, science, education and territorial development, seeking to attract all those interested in the cosmos.
