From Argentina to Cerdeira, we welcome Martín and Julieta to share an ancestral artistic practice through a contemporary lens - the result of more than 10 years of research, experimentation, and teaching across Latin America.
In this Ceramic Sound Masks workshop, you’ll be invited to listen, shape, and create your own personal sound mask, weaving together aesthetic and morphological elements inspired not only by ancestral cultures but also by the natural landscape of Lousã mountain. The program blends theory and hands-on practice, observational walks, the making of wind instruments, the building of brick cylindrical kiln, and the experience of wood-firing techniques.
We’ll conclude with a collective sound performance, a final sharing of results and closing ritual.

September 18: From 3:00 PM – Participant reception and check-in

September 19 – 27: Course from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM*, with a two-hour lunch break (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
*The schedule is flexible on the days of firing and baking the pieces.
September 28: Until 11:00 AM – Accommodation check-out
THE COURSE FEE INCLUDES:

. Accommodation in a dormitory at the hostel during the course (10 nights)*;
. Brick kiln construction and wood firing;
. All materials necessary for the course, except mask decoration materials**
*The hostel is equipped with two dormitories (female/male), kitchen, and bathrooms. The reservation includes towels and bedding.
**Does not include additional materials for mask decoration such as textiles, stones, metals, feathers, wicker/wood, etc. Any additional decoration materials must be brought by each participant in order to add their personal touch.

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR COURSES AND WORKSHOPS
You may withdraw within 14 days of registration, paying the correspondent transfer fees. Following the EU consumer protection legislation, payments are not refunded past 14 days of registration. The payment will be fully reimbursed if the training cannot be held because of insufficient students.
Suppose the training is canceled by Cerdeira - Home For Creativity for reasons of significant force such as a pandemic, civil disorder, a natural catastrophe, medical or family issues of the teacher, and others beyond our control. In that case, Cerdeira will offer a voucher for a different workshop of your choice. The voucher is valid for two years.
