Led by Matthew Blakely, the course takes place in the Schist Village of Cerdeira from 3 to 12 December. Inspired by the practical approach of his artistic education in Australia and the enormous potential of natural materials, Matthew creates his work from rocks, clays, shales and ashes that he has collected from various locations in the UK.
In this course, he shares his in-depth knowledge of these materials, opening the door for participants to learn how to prepare their own glazes from various rocks, such as the traditional schist from Cerdeira or the rocks and wood ash they can bring from home.

In 1988, he emigrated to Australia where he attended ceramics classes on Bondi Beach and worked in a pottery workshop. He later graduated in Ceramics from the National Art School in Sydney, where he was awarded a State Medal for his work.
In 2002, he returned to the UK, where he still lives and develops his work today.
